The Russian choreographer plays off the advantages of his Bolshoi upbringing, especially the theatricality - he knows the value of a good villain, works well with masses of dancers, and he's not afraid to tell a story.

Composed by Igor Stravinsky in 1910 and inspired by Russian fairy tales and legends, 'Firebird' was Stravinsky's breakthrough piece and is based on the magical glowing bird that can be either a blessing or a curse to its owner. Now one of the most iconic Russian ballets, the piece will be choreographed by Yuri Possokhov - known for his unique, daring and diverse staging.
Bringing the ballet staging to life is the official State Ballet of Georgia, the Atlanta Ballet, one of the finest dance companies in the country which was founded in 1929. Not only has the Atlanta Ballet delivered a diverse mix of pioneering dance for over 80 years with everything from classics to new interpretations; the company has a commitment to providing educational and community programs, which today serves more than 20,000 students a year and brings its passion for dance to everyone.
