A Celebration Of Boundary Pushing Dance
The Atlanta Ballet marks their fall return with a dynamic program that pushes and celebrates dancers' physical limits. The evening's performances set off to a rousing start with Czech contemporary dance icon Jiri Kylian's Return To A Strange Land, a whimsical fusion of graceful lifts, intimate embraces and gravity-defying, kinetic story telling set to four bittersweet pieces for solo piano by Czech composer Leos Janacek.
Next up, up and coming Brazilian choreographer Ricardo Amarante debuts a brand new world premiere work. An English National Ballet School graduate, the rising star is praised for an emotive neoclassical style influenced by his study and performances in the classical repertory. The program comes to a close with a special performance of Italian ballet master Mauro Bigonzetti's forceful and expressive pas de deux Mauro Bigonzetti, as performed by special guests the Czech National Ballet.
