Magic and mayhem in Benjamin Britten's Shakespearean opera!
Shakespeare's glorious comedy of warring fairies by way of Benjamin Britten, enjoy a delirious journey into a magical forest with the Atlanta Opera as this staging from Tomer Zvulun comes to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in spring 2024. With Iestyn Davies as Oberon and Liv Redpath as Tytania making their company debuts, it's time to don those flower crowns and fall under its spell.
What is the story?
A Midsummer Night's Dream focuses on three parallel stories while dealing with the universal theme of love and its complications. It follows the trials of two couples as they camp in a magical forest, the world of the fairy King and Queen who inhabit said forest, and a group of tradesmen attempting to stage a production of 'Pyramus and Thisbe' for the wedding of the Duke of Athens. In true Shakespearean comedy style, these stories don't stay separated for long and worlds collide in a spectacularly hilarious fashion. Love, action, magic, and comedy mix to create a truly magical spell.
