The epic second part of Wagner's Ring Cycle
The epic second part of Wagner's Ring Cycle
Wagner's Ring Cycle continues with the Atlanta Opera's brand-new production of the epic Die Walkure from Artistic Director Tomer Zvulun. Loosely based on Norse mythology with a healthy dose of European folklore, discover a world of Gods, men, and monsters, romance, revenge, adventure, and more, brought to life by this vivid imagining.
What is the story?
As Wontan, the ruler of the Gods, desperately seeks a way out of his curse, his children run into trouble. Siegmund, his half-mortal and innocent son finds himself battling his nemesis Hunding, after falling for his wife Sieglinde who is, unbeknownst to either of them, his twin sister. Whilst the fight continues on earth, the Gods look down. Wotan beseeches Brunnhilde, his Valkyrie daughter, and reaper of heroes, to protect his son. But his wife, Fricka, the protector of Wedlock, is angered by the adultery and incest he has committed and bids Brunnhilde to make sure he dies. Torn between compassion and duty, Brunnhilde awaits a terrible fate...
