Why see Atlanta Opera - Eugene Onegin?

What if...?

Tchaikovsky's sweeping adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's novel is re-framed in this new production presented by the Atlanta Opera that places the dashing rogue Eugene Onegin in the yellow wood of Robert Frost, where two paths are open yet only one can be followed. Love, loss and what might have happened further down the road less traveled by form the basis of this version of Tchaikovsky's lushly romantic, radiant masterpiece.

What is story?

When the handsome yet caddish young gentleman Eugene Onegin is introduced to the Larin family, its eldest daughter Tatyana falls in love with him instantly. When the young girl professes her love for him, he replies with scorn, instead flirting with her younger sister Olga, causing a fatal rift between himself and Olga's fiancee Lensky. Many years later, after a series of tragic events, Onegin meets Tatyana again and is overwhelmed by her matured beauty and grace. While her heart's fires reignite, Tatiana is in no position to return the love Onegin once spurned...

David Adam Moore takes on the titular Onegin, with William Burden as the poet Lensky and Raquel Gonzalez as Tatyana.
