Dear Evan Hansen

Dear Evan Hansen at Red Mountain Theatre

Why see Dear Evan Hansen?

A co-production of Red Mountain Theatre and UAB Department of Theatre, Birmingham, AL

Don't miss this co-production of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's stunning musical from Red Mountain Theatre and UAB Department of Theatre! Including the modern classics 'Waving Through a Window', 'You Will Be Found', and 'Sincerely Me,' the staging combines the strengths of two educational powerhouses, bringing together students from UAB's Musical Theatre program with professional actors for truly dynamic performances. In the original Broadway version, the cast is limited to eight actors. For this production, director Roy Lightner has also added an ensemble to bring elements of dance and movement not seen in other productions of the show.

What Is The Story?

What starts as a well-intentioned lie spirals out of control for Evan Hansen when it hits
social media. In our messy world of human connection, or lack thereof, the truth gets complicated
fast, grief and loneliness get tangled into "likes," and Evan must find himself again. Since technology
plays a huge role in the show, the creative team is utilizing LED screens and digital projections on a
multi-level set design to bring the audience into the digital world.
