The Washington Post

Why See Kathleen Battle?

Battle is back!

Kathleen Battle lends her glorious soprano voice to an uplifting evening of music that pays homage to the emergence and legacy of the Underground Railroad. Backed by the internationally renowned Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers of Los Angeles, Battle celebrates the role music played in the lives and hopes of African-American slaves during the Civil War.

Battle first debuted in 1975, since then her career has taken her all over the world and is now one of the most celebrated Soprano's in the genre. Kathleen Battle has received many accolades and awards throughout her career, these include winning three Grammy Awards as well as singing for the Pope when he visited the White House in 2008.
