Why See A Christmas Carol?

It's never too late to change your ways!

Back to bring joy for another year, the Alliance Theatre are proud to present their all Atlanta-cast production of Charles Dickens holiday classic. Meet penny-pinching old Scrooge who learns the error of his ways and the true meaning of Christmas, with the help of his ghostly ex-business partner Jacob Marley and some supernatural visitors.

Don't miss this Broadway-scale spectacular that includes wonderful period sets and costumes and beautiful live music to better tell this beloved tale of yuletide redemption!

Ever since Dickens first penned A Christmas Carol in 1843, it has seen myriad stage adaptations and the popularity of this tale of second chances has seemingly never waned. From stage to screen, opera to one man show, it is one of the most influential Christmas shows and a traditional holiday outing that defines the joy of the holiday period for audiences old and new.

What is A Christmas Carol all about?

Ebenezer Scrooge doesn't see the point of letting his employees have a day off for Christmas, not even kind Bob Cratchit, who's son Tiny Tim is very sick. Eventually, he is convinced and retires to his room to pass Christmas Eve as he usually does, alone. But this Christmas is different. He has a visitor for a change, the wretched soul of his former business partner Jacob Marley. Doomed to wander the earth for eternity for his sins in life, Marley warns Scrooge of three impending visitations by a trio of spirits.

First he meets the gentle Ghost of Christmas Past who shows him as a happy young man, the jolly Ghost of Christmas Present, who shows him what he is missing out on, and the terrifying Ghost of Christmas to Come, who shows him his future if he doesn't mend his ways; all of whom want to teach him a lesson about how his actions affect others, and ultimately, his own fate.
